The Lowell Neighborhood in Everett WA

Lowell is quite possibly one of the oldest, if not the oldest neighborhoods of Everett. Competing with the downtown and the Delta neighborhoods, Located in southeast Everett between Interstate 5 and the Snohomish River. Lowell was once its own "town" later annexed into Everett in the 1960s around the time that I-5 was paved through northern Washington. Today it holds charms of its industrious past and new residential subdivisions moving into the future.

History of Lowell

The area of Lowell began in 1863 with its founder E. D. Smith. It stood 30 years before Everett became an official city and became part of Everett in the early 1960s some say a trip into the Lowell neighborhood is like leaving the hustle of Everett behind and taking a journey into a more relaxed space that holds onto remnants of the past.

Lowell was once part of Everett's logging industry. You can still find many factory buildings full of old character. Acrowood Manufacturers still operate out of some of them producing heavy machinery used in the logging industry. The very first resident, E.D. Smith's memory lives on in the family farmland, known as Alexander's Farm, still operated and owned by the family to this day.

It sits above the trail and the park offering a great outdoor dining spot at the back and some of the most popular Asian cuisine (for those who truly know Everett) starting later in the afternoon. This area is also home to Scents of Thyme a fun boutique store where you can learn to make candles, soap, lotions, and lip balm.

The Lowell Riverfront Trail might be a crowning jewel to the neighborhood. The trail winds its way along the banks of the Snohomish River and is one of the most peaceful areas to enjoy nature in the city of Everett.
