The Martha Lake Airport Park Neighborhood in Everett
Martha Lake Airport Park is located in the furthest south section of Everett in the southeast portion. It is so far south that some people would consider it to be a part of Mill Creek or Lynnwood. It is not an actual subdivision or community in itself per se but rather an area of residential properties that surround the Martha Lake Airport Park which is also considered part of the larger and highly desirable Martha Lake neighborhood.
Imagine living in one of the most desirable areas of Snohomish County near some of the most popular shopping and dining destinations but being tucked away into what feels like a rural destination with a huge park within walking distance and a lake not too far away either.
Martha Lake Airport Park
The land that is Martha Lake Airport Park was once an actual functioning private airport under the title of Martha Lake Airport owned by a farmer who owned the land and surrounding land. The Hauter family operated the airport since 1960 after purchasing the land in 1955. As time went by the area was encroached with suburban development that is now the residential neighborhood and Ed Hauter Senior who owned the land sold it after the death of his wife Dorothy in 1998. The land is now owned by Snohomish County who purchased it in 2000 after Ed declined several offers from real estate developers. The park was opened in 2010 by the county and features athletic fields for soccer and softball, a skate park, and a large rock known as a glacial erratic that is used for bouldering which is a form of rock climbing. It is within walking distance from homes in the neighborhood.
The actual Martha Lake for which many smaller areas of the neighborhood and the larger full neighborhood are named can be accessed on E Shore Drive off of 164th St. On the south end of the entire Martha Lake neighborhood. It is one of three permanent parks within the larger Martha Lake neighborhood. The lake features a walking trail that winds around the lake, a swimming area, a dock, wetland boardwalks, a picnic area, fishing spots, a play structure, and more. The lake is at the south end of the Martha Lake neighborhood.
City of Mill Creek
Mill Creek is a small town and charming town on the southeast border of the city of Everett. Mill Creek Town Center is a mirror and charming destination that is easily walkable and popular for a lazy Saturday morning into the afternoon to get outside and enjoy society. The picturesque town center includes several great restaurants, local boutique shops, larger retail shops, and a Town and Country grocery store The town center is less than a five-minute drive for every home depending upon the time of day and traffic levels on both 132nd and 164th.
Alderwood Mall is located in Lynnwood less than 10 minutes from the south end of Martha Lake when traffic is light. This shopping mall is one of the most popular shopping destinations in Snohomish County. This shopping area is not only utilized by people living in Lynnwood but people in Snohomish County and beyond who come to this well-designed mall and the surrounding areas to shop some of the most desirable national and local retailers in the area. The mall features both an indoor shopping area and an open-air shopping center. You can find many popular national retailers and restaurants including Nordstrom, REI, Macy's, Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's, and hundreds more. There are several shopping centers surrounding the mall as well that have more national stores such as Home Goods, Old Navy, and Best Buy. It is a premier shopping destination in Snohomish County. Across from the mall is the newer Lynnwood Costco.
McCollum Park is on the northeast corner of the Martha Lake neighborhood. The park is officially within the Martha Lake north enclave of what is considered a Martha Lake area. Sometimes people refer to the neighborhood as the McCollum Park neighborhood. It is a large and prominent park in South Everett. The park is popular for its public swimming pool and play structure. It also offers plenty of green space, walking trails, picnic areas, a BMX bike track, and sports fields, and is home to the park and ride lot.
Schools Serving Martha Lake Airport Park Neighborhood
The public schools that serve the youngest members of the neighborhood are dependent upon which area of Martha Lake Airport Park that a home is in. Some students attend schools in the Mukilteo School District and some students attend schools in the Edmonds School District. Martha Lake Elementary school,for example serve a portion of homes in the neighborhood and is under the supervision of Edmonds School District. Most often homes in the northern portion of the neighborhood are allocated to the Mukilteo school district and homes in the southern portion are part of the Edmonds school district. Both school districts are highly rated and sought out by young families. Schools within these districts are highly regarded and parents often seek homes within the official boundaries of schools in these districts.

The Martha lake airport park section encompasses the areas to the east and west of the actual park itself and on the north.
Many of the homes are single-family properties built up around the park in the late 90s and early 2000s. You can find some great subdivision homes that are popular with young families for their quiet streets, sidewalks, and proximity to the popular park.
